Frequently Asked Questions
Concerning Portrait Commissions
What if I don't have a single photo with everyone in it?
I can "stitch" together as many photos as necessary to create the final portrait. I always send a sketch of the portrait before painting. At this time, we can make sure everything looks perfect.
What aspect of the reference photo(s) provided can be changed in my portrait?
I can virtually make any changes you might envision! Want everyone wearing pastels? Would like a certain scenic background? Would you like for me to change the season of the photo? Are you planning to change the color of your front door or add cedar shutters to the home in your architecture portrait? I can do it!!
Why can't I order an 8x10 or 9x12 portrait with more than 5 painted individuals?
My favorite part of faceless portraits is how the subtle details distinguish those you cherish without their facial features. When I "squeeze" a large number of subject onto a small surface area, these details are compromised. In order to offer the highest quality finished-product, I paint pieces with more than 5 subjects on the larger size options. If cost is ever a concern when commissioning a portrait, please allow me the opportunity to extend some options that may help make it a more feasible investment. My primary concern is to have the opportunity to bless my customers in any way I can.
Can you offer prints or a digital version of my portrait?
Yes! My customers often request prints or digital files as an affordable way to have multiple copies of an original watercolor. Prints start at $25 and digitizing is $15. These add-on options are purchasable in my shop. Simply add them to your cart when purchasing your commission.

*Please note: prints or digital files are only available as add-ons to a portrait commission.
What size should my commission be?

Do you offer custom or larger sizes than listed in your shop?
Absolutely! I can offer custom sizes ranging between 5x7-20x30. At this time, 20x30 is the largest size I can source.
Can you paint on a canvas for me?
I only paint on watercolor paper. This paper is excellent quality, ensuring exceptional and long-lasting results. It's important to note: in order to ensure your portrait lasts with time, I encourage my customers to display their pieces in areas that are not subject to direct sunlight.
Concerning Clipart Illustrations and Digital Downloads
What are the licensing options for small businesses?
Licensing a single illustration or illustration package - if you are only interested in purchasing a handful of illustrations, I offer a single-product license that may be purchased. This option is $15 per-product, licensing the total number of items included in the product description, (for example: if the product purchased is a singular illustration, one single-product license will cover this piece. If an illustration package is purchased, a single-product license will cover all of the illustration elements included in the package). This license is good for 1-1,000 units sold, no credit to LydMothersYoung is required, but is appreciated.

Extended commercial licensing options - LydMothersYoung extended commercial licenses are a one-time purchase covering all existing and future LydMothersYoung clipart illustration packages. This license is good for 1-1,000 units sold (per each singular LMY product). No credit to LydMothersYoung is required, but is appreciated.

I would like to commission custom work
I love working directly with vendors to create unique designs. I offer generically licensed LMY work and exclusive design work. These pieces are prices based on the complexity of the design. Can you change colors or certain features of an illustration?
The product depicted in the listing is the only variations of that particular illustration. However, if a commercial license covers the illustration, customers may adjust colors or deconstruct the image as would best fit their needs. I also happily take suggestions for future work or variations, as they help me offer products that serve my customers well. Depending on my current processing times, sometimes I can accommodate certain requests. Please do not hesitate to inquire
If I purchase a print of a watercolor illustration, can I get a digital version as an add-on?

Concerning Ornaments &
LydMothersYoung "Ready to Ship" Products
Why can I only order faceless ornaments with up to 6 individuals?
Ornaments offer very limited space and detail. I recommend keeping subjects painted between 1-4; however I offer up to 6 total. The finished product of 5-6 individuals will be a "minimalist" style with little detail work.
Can I combine a watercolor crest or illustration to the back of my faceless ornament?
Absolutely! The best way to do this is to add both the illustration ornament and the faceless portrait ornament to your cart. At the time of purchasing, just let me know that you would like for them to be combined. You also can contact me directly for help ordering this product by using the chat feature below. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.
I would like to order multiple ornaments with the same faceless illustration, are there options that might make the purchase more affordable?
Often, customers like to purchase these ornaments as gifts to multiple friends or family members. I offer printed versions of the original hand-painted portrait for $15 per ornament. I also offer a discount code for bulk orders of hand-painted ornaments. Please submit an inquiry request here to learn more.
